HARVEST Christian Fellowship will host a lighthouse carols and night market on December 9. The carols were previously held at Renaissance Village for about ten years and now the venue has changed to accommodate more people and to reach out to the community.
Noelle Sadler, founder and elder at Harvest Christian Fellowship explained how she and her husband Robbie would open their home at Renaissance Village for three weeks to the public to spread the Christmas cheer.
They would spend about a month decorating their home with the decorations collected for over 40 years and would host ‘Christmas in the village’ at their home for four nights a week for three weeks before Christmas. For safety reasons they did not promote or advertise the event but over 400 people would gather every night to experience the Christmas cheer.
“It was difficult having this at home and it was too much work. For safety reasons and to accommodate more people we decided to move it. Everything that was at Renaissance Village will still be at the church and people should come to experience the sense of family that such an event offers,” said Noelle.
This year the team from Harvest decided to charge a small entrance fee and vendors had to pay a booking fee for their stalls. All proceeds from these go to Door of Hope. The entrance fee is R10 per adult and R5 per child.People are welcome to bring along chairs, blankets and candles for carols but no food or drinks are permitted. Food and drinks will be on sale and Christmas gifts from creative vendors and crafters will also be sold.
The carols will take place from 5pm to 9pm at the church on 2 Tehore Street in Mulbarton. The whole family is welcome to experience unity this Christmas and community fellowship in a beautiful evening of being blessed, knowing that Door of Hope has been nominated as a charity that will benefit from this initiative.
