Be street smart in Savagely Clothing’s streetwear

Two twenty-year old Alberton boys produce street wear brand

SAVAGELY Clothing SA is a South African streetwear brand that was started about two months ago by two 20-year- old boys, Sizwe Moyo from Mayberry Park and Devyn Winchester from Albertsdal.

The modern style streetwear is only about three months old and is thus far making good impressions among its clients. Sizwe and Devyn have released the first part of their #Winter17 range, which clients have described as warm, comfortable and stylish. Savagely Clothing SA offers hoodies, sweaters, beanies, caps, snapbacks and T-shirts.

According to the boys, the second part of the range will be released sometime in July through their social media pages (details at the end of the story). The brand prides itself on its multiracial target audience and client base, something that their initial photo shoot succeeded in capturing.

HOODIES: The brand offers a variety of winter clothes.

The clothing duo has been friends since the early age of five. They attended the same primary and high schools. Sizwe recalls sending Devyn a WhatsApp message, saying “Dude, let’s start a clothing line!” which then led to this innovative brand being born. Devyn cites the main reason to start his own clothing line was building on the legacies of his favourite designers to create something South Africans can be proud of.

“All the top designers in the world are visionaries who have pioneered modern clothing as we know it and everyone else has just tried to mimic them. I want to build onto the legacy of creating something special and make it stand out. I wanted to create something simple but elegant. Something of great quality that I could sell at a reasonable price. Something that any South African would be proud to wear,” said Devyn.

Sizwe, who conceptualised the name, said that savagely by definition means ‘to a very great and severe degree’ and the name does not incite violent behaviour but rather prompts the wearer to take off the shackles that bind them of what’s right and what’s wrong and in that way it’s more than a brand. It’s more a lifestyle.

UNISEX: There are clothes available for male and female.

Savagely Clothing SA is currently running a social media giveaway campaign where hoodies and sweaters will be up for grabs. The Alberton boys are also currently approaching Gauteng DJ, Vin Groovin, to be the face of their brand and play an ambassadorial role.
