THROUGH hard work and dedication, seasoned investigating officer constable ZS Motaung put an armed robber behind bars for ten years.
According to Mondeor SAPS spokesperson, Capt Nokulunga Dube, Motaung from Mondeor SAPS managed to track a suspect who was then arrested on February 24 earlier this year at the Jacksons Drift informal settlement.
Mayanga Bheki (25) was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court. At the time of his arrest he was found wearing his victim’s watch and other items. The robbery occurred at Eagles Nest in Kibler Park earlier this year. The victim was asleep when the suspects entered the house and threatened him with a firearm and stole jewellery from the house.
Mondeor SAPS also shares its successes from September 21 to September 27. This week saw ten people arrested for possession of dagga, six arrested for shoplifting, four arrested for residential burglary, four arrested for dealing in liquor without a licence, two arrested for business burglary and two arrested for assault.
