Sole2Sole continues great work

DARIO Gouveia (9), his sister Liana (8) and mom Zita are carrying on the wonderful work for Sole2Sole, collecting and distributing shoes to the less fortunate.
Since last we caught up with Dario, he has made many inroads with Sole2Sole and has visited schools, children’s homes and homes for the underprivileged. He has even made a TV appearance on Real Talk with Anele.
“Since I was on Anele’s TV show we’ve had so many more people contacting us and donating shoes. It’s been fantastic,” Dario said.
He has also appeared on CNBC Africa, a show for young entrepreneurs.
On September 2, Dario and his family went to the National Sports Day for children with Down’s syndrome, in Pilditch, Pretoria, and handed over 400 pairs of shoes.

“We now have drop-off points in Loco Liq Liquor Warehouse in Bracken Gardens, Brackenhurst, PNA The Glen Shopping Centre and Jubilant Gift Boutique, which you’ll find at 25 Tulbach Street, Alberante, Alberton. There are also boxes at Marist Brother’s Linmeyer and St Martin’s School as well as a drop-off point in Fairie Glen, Pretoria, which is a huge help.”
Exciting news – a young girl in Durban has come on board and is collecting shoes, while Aaron Greenblatt (8) from Rock Your Socks has collected over 12 000 pairs of socks.
“We’ve now managed to collect about 12 200 pairs of shoes and lots have been handed out already,” said Dario. “A man from London who does the parkrun over there saw one of our articles and when he came to Johannesburg he brought shoes with him from the UK and at the Lonehill parkrun he handed over the shoes,” said Zita.
Dario received his 947 LeadSA Youth Hero award for March recently.
“Even though I didn’t win the 947 LeadSA Hero event, it was thrilling to be there at the ceremony and I’m really proud,” he added.
Dario has his own heroes.
“Locally I admire Sheldon Spear from Need to Read, as well as Luke Lamprecht, who looks after children’s rights, and Brent Lindeque (GoodThingsGuy) – he’s fantastic and we have a great connection.”
Presently Sole2Sole is in need of more children’s shoes, school shoes and men’s shoes.
