UPDATE: Shots fired during armed robbery

While he was standing at the site next to his vehicle with the company director, he heard three gunshots.

ON Monday, August 28, at about 1.35pm, a man from the company Vumatel was at the construction site on the corner of Laubscher Street and Stegman Road, near Bellairs Drive, to pay the casual workers.

While he was standing at the site next to his vehicle with the company director, he heard three gunshots. Three suspects, one armed with a firearm, approached them and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money, which was going to be used to pay the casual workers.

The workers managed to chase after the suspects and caught one of them.

Police were called to the scene and the 24-year-old man was arrested. The other two suspects got away.

Mondeor SAPS is investigating a case of armed robbery.
