APN’s Mean Mr Mustard fund-raiser a big success

“APN is hosting this event so that we never have to turn down an animal in need, because we dearly love each and every animal."

IT sure was a fun party with performances by Xanilee and the highlight of the day Mean Mr Mustard with their classic hit, Build Me Up Buttercup.

On Women’s Day, August 9, the Animal Protection Network (APN) held a fund-raiser at the Tin Cup Restaurant at Rietvlei Zoo Farm in aid of saving and feeding stray animals.

FUN: Children had a great time on the climbing frame and jumping castle while their parents enjoyed the music show.

Needles to say, it did not come as a surprise that the event was well attended – one had to search thoroughly for an open seat! The event catered for children too, with jumping castles, climbing frames and putt-putt to keep them busy while parents let loose to the music.

APN’s vision is to be an animal welfare group that saves and helps unwanted and/or abused street dogs, cats and any other animal in need, in the greater area of Alberton. They are in partnership with Brackenhurst Vet, which provides their rescue animals with quality care and treatment.

SUPPORT: This sign was displayed at the entrance of the Tin Cup Restaurant at the event.

Mandie Garrity, one of four APN directors, said: “APN is hosting this event so that we never have to turn down an animal in need, because we dearly love each and every animal. I love being at this event and interacting with all the people, because it’s very important that they know who we are and build a relationship with us. We need all the help we can get from them. Also, we love people! We have feeding schemes for people in need and do what we can to help out.”

FULL: The venue was full of people looking forward to Mean Mr Mustard’s performance.

Hugo Botha, owner of the restaurant, sponsored the music groups and the restaurant for the day. It was his way to give back and thank them for what they do.

JAMMIN’: Mean Mr Mustard playing their classic hit, Build Me Up Buttercup.

“All of us here at the Tin Cup love animals – this is an animal-friendly restaurant, after all! We really appreciate what APN does for Alberton’s animals every day and we support them all the way.”
