I have, on several occasions, reported problematic properties in Ward 125 to the local authorities.
Properties in our residential areas seem to be used for businesses more and more often despite strict by-laws that have to be adhered to.
Urban inspectors will be more visible and investigations into illegal land usage and abandoned properties will be conducted and the necessary legal steps will be implemented to ensure that properties are strictly used for the purposed they were zoned for.
Property owners doing alterations and additions to their properties must please ensure that they get ‘hoarding certificates’ if they want to store building material on the sidewalks for lengthy periods. Illegal dumping will be monitored.
Spaza shops are popping up all over the area in Ward 125 without adhering to proper consent procedures.
I hereby urge residents to co-operate in this regard and assure you that it is to the advantage of our ward’s inhabitants.
