Chief Adam Mathysen passed away

He influenced and impacted people from all walks of life by making them aware of their true identity.

Chief Adam Gert Mathysen, a well-known Khoi and San activist in Jacksonsdrift, Eikenhof, sadly died at the age of 64 years, on July 8, due to natural causes.

He influenced and impacted people from all walks of life by making them aware of their true identity. He always told them that they are descendants of the Khoi and San, the first people who lived in freedom and equality at the Southern tip of Africa. Adam made his mark wherever he went. This soft-spoken man was young at heart and had a warm smile. Adam was a fun person to be around. He never complained and he never wanted to be a burden. Everyone will remember him as down-to-earth and resilient. He was a remarkable man who lived life to the fullest.

As a community developer who has intermingled with people from all walks of South Africa, we foresee that his funeral will be attended by over two thousand people and that poses a catering and logistical challenge to us. The funeral cover package is not sufficient to take care of the catering, the hiring of a marquee and transportation for members of the Jacksondrift community that will be attending.

We are calling on the public for generous donations (cash or kind). Here are the banking details of Jacksonsdrift Khoisan Development Association (JKDA). Account Name: Jacksonsdrift Khoisan Development Association; Bank: First National Bank; Branch: Carlton Centre; Account Number: 622 456 292 77.

His burial will take place on July 22, at Jacksonsdrift, Eikenhof. The funeral will commence at 9am.
