SOLE2SOLE is an initiative started by nine-year-old Dario Gouveia and held its own Sympathy SleepOut at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on June 30.
KEEPING WARM: Volunteers keeping warm by the fire.
Approximately 30 people gathered in the cold to spend the night outdoors in order to experience what life is like for those less fortunate. Fires were lit and soup was served to the group of friends and family.

Items were collected for the Refilwe Community Project in Lanseria. This included nappies and formula, purity baby food and blessing blankets, among others.
WARM: Blessing blankets that were donated.
Dario Gouveia, founder of Sole2Sole, and the youngest 2017 School SleepOut™ Ambassador, started Sole2Sole in order to collect shoes for the underprivileged. At the SleepOut Dario had everyone take their shoes off so they could experience what a minute without shoes in the cold, is like. He also explained that without shoes, you can’t go to school or get a job, but you can get hypothermia.

Other School SleepOut Ambassadors who attended were Xiluva Ndimande and Jessica Powell. They thanked the group for attending, for collecting items and for taking the opportunity to gain empathy.
