WATCH: A six ton truck filled with goodies for Knysna

Our community has gone above and beyond our call.

WHEN a six ton truck leaves the parking lot loaded with goods for Knysna, words cannot describe your feelings of gratitude, and then a thank you from the bottom of your heart is all that is left.

WATCH:

“We are stunned by our community’s reaction to our call for donations towards the Knysna relief efforts. Once again, we stand in awe of their helping hands and open hearts. When we ask you are always so willing to help. All that is left to say is thank you to everyone who responded to our call. We are humbled by your efforts. We salute you,” said Carina van der Walt, editor.

“By Monday afternoon we started sorting through donations and were simply amazed at the variety of items – our packing space was quickly crammed with bags, boxes, groceries, pet food, crockery, cutlery and much more. It is truly heartwarming knowing that we live and work in communities eager to reach out and help,” Carina added.

Donations started to arrive on Friday and were literally streaming in by Monday. Communities organised their own drop-off points, like the residents of Aspen whose donations were delivered by Pam Golding in no less than four and a half bakkie loads. The individuals with loads of donations, those who gave and came back to give more, the companies who phoned offering help with transport, those enquiring about banking details for financial assistance – the list is endless.
