The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

A child has been killed and another critically injured this afternoon, June 2, when they were hit by a truck on the R82 outside of Walkerville.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two children lying on the side of the road. The truck, which had rolled, had come to a stop upright and on the side of the road.

Paramedics immediately assessed the two children, boys believed to be 4-years-old, and found that one had sustained fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. The second boy was found with numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the one boy and he was declared dead on the scene.

The second boy was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the boy was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Lenmed Lenasia for urgent treatment.

The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have sustained only minor injuries. He was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
