You too can be a master cake decorater

Mulbarton residents can have just as much fun decorating cakes as Albertonians!

THE Wits South Sugar Guild, Mulbarton, might as well be the cousin of our own Cake Decorating Guild, Gladiola-Botha branch.

Mulbarton residents can have just as much fun decorating cakes as Albertonians! Here people can learn how to make all kinds of icing decorations for cakes, and it doesn’t require any special talent to participate.

CAKE DECORATORS: The room was filled with eager cake decoration enthusiasts.

On Saturday, May 20, another fun workshop was held at Wits South Sugar Guild. About 40 ladies turned up and Helen Pepperel taught them how to make finger filler flowers with “flower paste” (otherwise referred to as sugar paste). Finger filler flowers are edible flowers made by hand to give new life and beauty to an empty cake. Of course, it doesn’t have to be cakes that you decorate – you can use them to beautify whatever your heart desires!

SUGARED EGGS: Naomi Marchant, Isabel Marques and Lynne van der Merwe showing off the “sugared easter eggs” that they made in April.

Do you enjoy baking? Do you like decorating cakes and cupcakes? Would you like to meet people who share this interest with you? If the answer to any of these question is ‘yes’, the Wits South Sugar Guild is the perfect place for you.

Their next meeting will take place on June 10, where Sue Reid will be demonstrating how to make hibiscus flowers. If you want to become a member, or just to attend this upcoming event, ring Isabel on 083 709 2529.
