VIDEOS: Communities in the South revamp municipal land into beautiful gardens

One such garden is at the top of Donington Road, just up from Vallot Street, Glenvista Ext 4; and Harry Meyer and his gardener can only be congratulated on turning what was once an overgrown dumping site into a beautiful garden.

SOME residents in Glenvista and Bassonia have taken things into their own hands and, instead of complaining about long grass and pavements being neglected, they’ve made gardens of the municipal land.

MUCH BETTER: A pavement which was becoming overgrown in Mount Pellan Drive, is now kept neat and lawned.

HARD WORK: Vickery Avenue is looking so much better after part of the pavement has been turned into a lawn.

Harry lives in the townhouse complex at the top of Donington, and he and his grandson originally got stuck in and worked hard to turn the mess into something beautiful. Now it looks absolutely stunning and his gardener is very proud of the work he does there.

Another such area is around the corner at the top of Vickery Avenue, Glenvista Ext 4. The veld next to the townhouse complex has been made into a lawned area, and looks neat and well looked after. Hats off to whoever is responsible!

GORGEOUS: Beautifying the veld and pavement in Donington Road.

Go down to Hantamberg Street in Glenvista and again residents are looking after the paving along the top half of the street, going towards Bellairs Drive. Well done!

Then go around the corner to Mount Pellan Drive, where there is an empty stand – you will see someone is looking after the paving there, keeping it lawned and tidy. Keep up the good work!

LOOKING GOOD: Trees look gracious along the pavement of Hantamberg Street.

Together residents can make a difference and if you are a resident who takes the initiative in looking after your neighbourhood, please phone Julie on 083 553 9258.
