Three criminals behind bars for different crimes. Well done to Mondeor SAPS!

Sifiso Mavuso (26) was convicted to two life imprisonments for three counts of murder by the Palm Ridge High Court recently.

According to Mondeor SAPS communications officer, Captain Nokulunga Dube, this follows a murder that occurred in Naturena where a man was murdered in his home on July 9, 2015.

The court found that the accused took two minors from the house using the deceased’s vehicle and murdered the children in Germiston. The deceased man was found in his home in a decomposed state.

The court also found that the accused poisoned the children and left them inside the vehicle. They were later discovered by police on patrol.

The station commander at Mondeor SAPS, Colonel JJ Bezeuidenhoudt, commended seasoned investigating officer Warrant Officer Zwane for the hard work he put into this case.

Convicted for robbing a scholar at gunpoint

In another incident, the accused, Tebogo Tshabalala (24), was convicted by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court to 15 years imprisonment and found unfit to possess a firearm.

The accused was found guilty of an armed robbery that took place on Seder Street in Suideroord on June 25, 2016.

According to Captain Dube, he robbed a scholar of his cellphone at gunpoint, using a green Golf that he had borrowed from a friend.

After investigation, he was arrested in Mndeni Soweto and was positively identified. The station commander at Mondeor SAPS commended the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Mostert, for the good work.

Convicted for stealing vehicle

Making a ‘not so clean’ getaway was another accused, Madelain Visage (38), who was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

The court found that she stole a vehicle on True North Road Mulbarton on March 17, 2016. The complainant and the accused were both in the vehicle when the complainant stopped to check the boot of the vehicle, and it was found that the accused then drove off with the white Hyundai Tucson.
