Locals make Mrs South Africa top 100
The competition offers married South African women with careers, families, and hobbies the chance to compete for the prestigious title of Mrs South Africa.
TWO local married women have made it to the Mrs South Africa semi-finals and they hope residents of the South will support them throughout this journey.
Prenita Reddi, from Glenanda, and Nomsa Sello, from Ridgeway, were both named among the Top 100 semi-finalists on Thursday, March 2.
Speaking to the COURIER, the two women, who have become friends, explained that Mrs South Africa is not a typical beauty pageant, as it is open to married women with careers, families and hobbies.
The 100 semi-finalists will be competing from Wednesday, April 26, to Friday, April 28, at the Centre Court at Emperors Palace.
Only 25 women will be chosen as finalists.
The announcement will be made at the annual Cansa gala dinner on the 28th at the Centre Court.
All proceeds from this glittering affair will go to the pageant’s official charity, the Cancer Association of South Africa.
Why they chose to enter Mrs South Africa
Nomsa said cheerfully: “To inspire and empower young women and men about the ultimate purpose of marriage. Mrs South Africa to me is about empowering one another the best way we can. It is about upholding the values of not just being a married woman but of being a woman who is able to bring out the best in everyone, just like the roots of a tree that holds its branches together through all conditions. We can learn a lot from nature.”
Prenita said with a smile: “I entered the competition not just to be a role model to married women, but to inspire and motivate single women, divorced women and single mothers. I want them to know that they are not defined by their current circumstances but only by the belief they have in themselves. Through my own personal experiences, I know with certainty that anyone can have it all if they just believe in themselves.”
