Long service honoured at women’s institute

FOUR members of Eikenhof Women’s Institute received long service awards at the organisation’s 65th birthday celebration on Wednesday, March 15.

Jean Ross received a 30-year award, Joyce Harris a 10-year award and Julie Board and Bronwen du Plessis each received a five-year service award.

The awards were presented by Noleen Walker, President of the Federation of the Women’s Institute.

“We are very proud of our Eikenhof group and the great work they continue to produce. Well done,” she said.

Members brought their handmade ‘fidget cushions’ to the meeting and these will be donated to various homes for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

The organisation will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, April 12.
