Company creates awareness for Childhood Cancer Day

Unfortunately, Childhood Cancer Day has become so overshadowed by Valentine’s Day that each year it just passes by with few people being aware of it.

IN support of Childhood Cancer Day, Jayson Gounden (45), his family and his staff chose to sponsor the Childhood Cancer Day event at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital on February 15.

Unfortunately, Childhood Cancer Day has become so overshadowed by Valentine’s Day that each year it just passes by with few people being aware of it.

Jayson, however, the owner of Finally Home Property Brokers in Ridgeway, wanted to make a difference on his birthday by paying it forward for all the blessings he has received. “All I wanted to do was make a difference to just one day of these children’s lives. So I celebrated my birthday with the two most adorable girls who share the date with me.

“There is not enough awareness created around childhood cancer. It’s becoming a very rapidly growing illness. More and more children are being diagnosed every day. The hospital has seen a dramatic increase over the past seven years. People need to be aware of the symptoms and together we can fight this.

“The Finally Home Property Brokers family and staff spent the day at the hospital. What better way to spend your birthday than with these kids! They are so full of joy. I received one of the most valuable gifts to just be in their presence. The smiles and hugs are so real you can feel their love and honesty and they want nothing in return – even though they are in so much pain and discomfort. They teach us compassion. Join our pledge, come and sign at our office in Ridgeway. Contact us on 011 022 5359,” said Jayson.
