A MAN, believed to be in his 30s, was killed this morning (Wednesday, February 8) when he was knocked down by a bakkie on the N12 near the Xavier Road off-ramp.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find one light motor vehicle in the middle lane of the highway while the bakkie had come to a stop on the side of the road. The body of the man was found lying in front of the light motor vehicle.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. He was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the bakkie was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
It is believed that the man had been assisting another driver with his broken down vehicle and the driver of the bakkie apparently failed to notice him in the road.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
