BREAKING NEWS: Joost passes away

He was diagnosed with the illness in 2011, and played 89 Tests for the Springboks between 1993 and 2003.

Joost van der Westhuizen (45), former Springbok scrumhalf died on Monday, February 6, after losing his battle with motor neuron disease (MND).

He was rushed to hospital on Saturday, February 4, in a critical condition, J9 Foundation confirmed. Throughout the weekend he showed signs of stabilising and knew those around him.

He was diagnosed with the illness in 2011, and played 89 Tests for the Springboks between 1993 and 2003.
