Car slams into tree killing one, injuring two in Mondeor

Once freed, paramedics treated both men and provided them with advanced life support interventions.

One man has been killed and two others injured this afternoon, January 23, when a light motor vehicle slammed into a tree on Columbine Road in Mondeor, South of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 14:00. A light motor vehicle was found almost completely wrapped around a tree.

One man was found a few feet away while two other men, both in their 20’s, were found trapped inside the vehicle. Paramedics carefully extricated both men, who were found to be in a critical condition.

Once freed, paramedics treated both men and provided them with advanced life support interventions.

Unfortunately, one of the men succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene. The man lying outside the vehicle was assessed and sustained moderate injuries. Once treated, both men were transported to Baragwanath Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and collide with a pedestrian and finally come to a stop against the tree. Local authorities will be conducting an investigation into this collision.
