St Anthony’s College welcomes new head

Redford was offered the post in September

ST ANTHONY’s College will welcome Carly Redford as its new principal, next year.

The 35-year-old mother of three is now in her 13th year of teaching. Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Redford and her family moved to Kibler Park when she was only a year old. She attended Meredale Primary and Mondeor High and went on to study at the University of Witwatersrand.

An impressive timeline of teaching:

2004: Glenanda Primary (math and Zulu).

2007: Taught in Canada for six months.

2008: Mulbarton Primary (math and Zulu).

2011: Mondeor High (math and art).

2012: Grace Trinity (math and Zulu).

Redford was offered the post in September after meeting with Marlene Allen (owner and founder of the school) and is excited at this opportunity to further her career.

“Teaching has always been my passion – I knew this from the time I was six years old.”

The family-orientated principal has been married to Roger Redford for seven years. The pair attended Mondeor High together, oblivious that they would one day be soul mates, and went on to teach at Mondeor together. Roger teaches life orientation, technology and is also the sports coordinator at Grace Trinity.

The family enjoys watching movies, swimming and spending quality time together. “We teach our children to be kind and courageous and I carry these traits with me. I hope to instill this in every child I encounter at St Anthony’s too,” said Redford.

She added that she is not ready to give up teaching and will juggle her love for teaching with that of principal.
