It’s raining Coke in Comaro

People stopped on both sides of the highway to get their share of Coca-Cola before Christmas.

APPROXIMATELY eight pallets of Coca-Cola were lost after a truck lost balance just before the Comaro off-ramp around midday on Friday (December 2) and was looted.

The truck driver, Eugene Mokets, spoke to the CHRONICLE saying he was travelling on the highway when he noticed the cargo sliding off the truck.

“That section of the highway just before the Comaro off-ramp is very uneven and curves to the right. As I took the bend I felt the truck tilting to the right and then I saw the cold drinks falling off the truck,” said the upset Mokets.

Metro Police, Fire Rescue, FOX Security, Emer-G-Med, roadside assistance and tow trucks were all on scene to assist the truck driver. Many good Samaritans joined in to help Mokets salvage some goods as many people began looting the truck. Many drivers stopped their vehicles in the middle of the highway, to grab as much Coke as they could and fled the scene.

These people endangered many other commuters on the highway. As a result of this, the highway and traffic came to a standstill for a few hours as people were stopping on both sides of the highway to get their share of Coca-Cola before Christmas.

People assisted in the clean-up of the cold drinks and helped guard the rest of the good until the truck was mobile again.

There were no injuries and the relevant authorities were on scene.
