MEMBERS of the Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested three men on Tuesday, October 25 for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and recovered a bag with money to the value of R1.6-million.
According to Mondeor SAPS communications officer Captain Nokulunga Dube, police members were patrolling along the N12 freeway when they noticed a black Mercedes Benz with three occupants. They pulled it over and searched the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was found that the vehicle was reported hijacked in Virginia with a Virginia case number back in September.
Inside the vehicle was a bag with the money that the suspects could not account for. They gave no explanation of where they got the money from and were detained at Mondeor police cells.
The trio will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
