Real estate agency reaches out

The event was held at Rietvlei Zoo Farm and saw about 400 people attend and R21 000 raised on that day alone.

SEEFF Winchester is proud to announce that they recently hosted their first charity event which raised a total of R21 000 in aid of a sixteen-year-old who was recently involved in a microlight crash.

The fund-raiser was well attended and Melissa Oosthuizen, the office manager for Seeff Winchester, said the accident occurred after the aircraft experienced engine failure. The other passenger, Mario Muller, who was also the pilot of the microlight, died.

“Nathan Roos (16) survived this serious accident on August 31 and he has since been suffering from major internal bleeding. He has had to endure various surgeries and was still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) when the charity event took place on October 2. He has since been stabilised and is responding well to treatment. He will be moved to a rehabilitation facility soon,” said Oosthuizen.

The fund-raiser was held at Rietvlei Zoo Farm and saw about 400 people attend and R21 000 raised on that day alone. A total of over R30 000 has been raised since the account was opened.

Oosthuizen said the day consisted of many fun activities including lucky draws, fun walks and best dressed competitions. The wife and family of Mario Muller also took part in the walk and wore T-shirts in remembrance of the deceased.

“It is heart-warming to see how many total strangers have opened their hearts and wallets to support Nathan. Nathan may be a true fighter, but without the financial and emotional support from all the people who have so generously donated their time and money to this cause, his journey and that of his family would have been even more difficult. Nathan finds strength in the fact that so many people care about him and the donations obviously go a long way in helping to settle the doctors’ bills that the medical aid won’t cover,” said the family.

The family also confirmed that with the money that has been donated thus far the family managed to pay two bills for Nathan’s back brace and special socks that would have otherwise been very hard to purchase as these expenses aren’t covered by the medical aid.

If anyone would like to make a contribution to Nathan’s medical bills, the banking details are as follows:

FNB bank

Savings account number: 62639235143

Branch code: 250655
