AN ALBERTON resident is shaken up after having been kidnapped and held for ransom, recently.

Chairman of the Brackendowns CPF, Geoff Greeff, received a call asking for assistance from the Brackendowns Police Station, at 22:50 on October 11.

According to sources, a man had been kidnapped in Meyersdal, at the corner of Hennie Alberts and Michelle avenues – and was being held for ransom.

The CPF initiated a trace and patrollers and security officers were dispatched to comb the area.

After ransom negotiations with the kidnappers, the man was dropped off at the McDonald’s branch in Crown Mines. The CPF located him at a petrol station, by networking with other groups.

He had sustained minor injuries and was found at approximately 01:10 the next morning – and then reunited with his family at the Brackendowns Police Station at 02:00.

“The ransom amount to release the man was R350 000 and we’re still looking for the suspects,” said Brackendowns Police Station spokesperson, Lindi Moloyi.
