Cottages renovated at Nkosi’s Haven

South African project manager, Ian Leeson said they were here in SA for three days and they brought paint and other necessities to renovate the cottages at Nkosi’s Haven.

THIRTY Australians and members of the Qantas Cabin Crew renovated four cottages at Nkosi’s Haven, Alan Manor on Wednesday and Thursday, October 12 and 13.

They adopted the centre as a beneficiary organisation since 2002 and have done so much for them, from setting up the library, music and art room to attending to various needs.

This non-profit making organisation raised funds in schools in Australia with the help of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to help other organisations.

South African project manager, Ian Leeson said they were here in SA for three days and they brought paint and other necessities to renovate the cottages at Nkosi’s Haven. “To organise this trip it took us six months. We came along with our personnel who volunteered to help here. We also help other countries such as Mumbai, Thailand and also Australia,” he said.

Nkosi’s Haven founding director, Gail Johnson said they were happy the crew renovated the cottages. “They raise the money to purchase the material needed and then spend the days with us doing ‘hard labour’ and the work needed,” she said.
