Rietvlei not robbed

The community is urged to work together to drive the criminals out of the area for the safety of families and businesses.

FOLLOWING posts on many social media groups, Toni Mackrell of Rietvlei confirmed that the Zoo Farm was not robbed.

“There is a group of six suspicious men who are in the area and driving unregistered vehicles. We have people on the lookout for their movements because we are concerned that they might be watching and targeting businesses in the South,” said Mackrell.

Fernando Coimbra, manager at Achoupana Portuguese Cuisine where the suspects were and had breakfast on Tuesday, October 4, spoke to the CHRONICLE.

“Once there were four of them who came in and today there were two. When we realised these are the suspicious men we called security. The men had breakfast and thereafter they left,” he said.

Coimbra alerted security, SAPS and CPF of the men’s presence and they were driving a silver Toyota.

Mackrell emphasised that the community is urged to work together to drive the criminals out of the area for the safety of families and businesses.

“People need to be aware that crime is rife in our community and we must work together to fight crime. Our business owners and residents of the South must join the CPF to work together and help fight crime in our areas. If you see any of the suspicious vehicles alert SAPS, CPF or your security company,” said Mackrell.

Attempts to get comment from SAPS were made but were unsuccessful.
