Christmas is in the air
For Carol Wright of Glenvista, the Santa Shoebox Project is close to her heart and this year she has decided to take the project one step further and encouraged the women who attend her art class to become involved too.
CHRISTMAS is coming and the annual Santa Shoebox Project is well underway with both local and national community members filling shoeboxes with gifts and necessary items for children.
For Carol Wright of Glenvista, the Santa Shoebox Project is close to her heart and this year she has decided to take the project one step further and encouraged the women who attend her art class to become involved too.
“The filled shoebox is normally covered in Christmas gift wrap but after chatting to my art class we have chosen to paint a shoebox each and then fill it with the goodies. They look so beautiful and we are sure the children who receive these will want to keep them,” said Carol.
Carol and her class are challenging other members of art classes to do the same as they have done. “The painted box itself is a gift on its own and could be used for storing books, schoolwork or stationery. We really hope other ‘artists’ will adopt our idea,” the class added.
