Police station visit

The talk was given by Nokulunga Dube (Principal Communication Officer Mondeor SAPS), who gave crime awareness tips to the domestics and what to look out for.

THE Community Awareness Training (CAT) group of domestic workers, along with Ward 23 councillor, Sarah Wissler, who formed the group, paid a visit to Mondeor Police Station, to see how to go about opening a criminal case, as well as learning about various police duties.

The talk was given by Nokulunga Dube (principal communication officer Mondeor SAPS), who gave crime awareness tips to the domestics and what to look out for.

She also advised they know their sector police numbers in case of an emergency (see below).

“If you put your dustbin out in the morning, make sure you bring it in before nightfall. A dustbin left out overnight can indicate no one is at home. Don’t leave gardening tools outside, such as spades, etc. Double check you have locked windows and doors before leaving the house and when going to sleep,” added Dube.

A walk around the police station included a look at the cells for suspects and the front desk/office. The next CAT meeting will be held on October 18. For more information, phone Sarah Wissler on 083 256 3453.
