Magical prize for new mom

“All I know is the woman who won the prize at Mama Magic at the Dome, has a medical aid and wanted to do something for someone who hasn’t one. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart,” said Charlene.

CHARLENE Mokgoankgoa (22) gave birth to her baby girl on Monday, September 5, at Netcare Mulbarton Hospital.

She was lucky to have been given the prize of a complete pregnancy starter pack worth over R120 000, when a woman who won the actual prize, chose someone randomly who was registered to give birth at Charlotte Maxeke.

“All I know is the woman who won the prize at Mama Magic at the Dome, has a medical aid and wanted to do something for someone who hasn’t one. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart,” said Charlene.

The prize is sponsored by Netcare, Pampers, Stokke, Phillips Avent and Baby City.

Baby Amogelang came into the world at 12:53, weighing 2,640kg and was delivered by Dr N Dwarka, with paediatrician Dr B Maistry on hand.

“Management and staff have been wonderful and I’ve been treated and cared for so well,” added Charlene. “Thank you all for your kindness and support.”

Nellie Koen, general manager of Netcare Mulbarton Hospital said, “The staff and midwives of our hospital are very passionate about bringing new life into the world and assisting parents to develop families. Therefore, we place a heavy emphasis on providing the highest quality of care in order to safeguard the well- being of our mothers and babies.”

Charlene is a student at Central Johannesburg College in Parktown and is studying financial management. Mom and baby went home on Wednesday to a proud granny, who will be helping to look after Amogelang.
