Water Wise offers tips on saving water

Spring has arrived and we can look forward to long, warm days, and many hours in the garden. The Water Wise website offers information on gardening hints and tips and events.

Rand Water, in collaboration with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), will unveil its new Manzi Rock Hopping Game at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens, on Friday, September 9. The garden has been designed as an addition to the existing Water Wise garden, which was established in 2011 to encourage children and families to visit.

Water Wise garden will educate the youth on water conservation practices in a self- explanatory and interactive manner.

The Drought SA portal was created by the WRC in order to provide up-to-date information on the current South African drought. As part of its services, it sources information on water restrictions throughout the country. Water Wise has brought that tool right to your fingertips.

A few tips to save water:

  • Take shorter showers
  • Reuse bath water
  • Check taps for leaks and drips
  • Put a full load in your dishwasher
  • Don’t rinse your dishes under running water
