Meals on Wheels to march in the South

Locals are invited to march and to take a stand against violence and abuse.

MEALS on Wheels is inviting residents of the South to join them on two marches to take a stand against violence, abuse and drugs to effect a positive change in the South.

Caregiver Christine Crossley is a firm believer in locals taking a stand for themselves before they seek help elsewhere. She informed the CHRONICLE that until such time as residents take initiative to take back their community from the druglords who are killing children from the South with their illicit substances, the community will not be safe.

“Working with the police we can achieve much more. People need to realise that the police are here to help and if we trust in them we can make this community better,” said Crossley.

The marchers will be joined by local community policing forums and Booysens SAPS officers. The first march will be a drug awareness march scheduled for Friday, September 9, from 09:00, and will begin at Rotunda Park in Rosettenville. The second march will be against violence and will take place on Saturday, September 17, in Bellavista from 10:00. Marchers will convene at the Bellavista open soccer field.
