Millions raised to get Caylum to Boston

Many generous offers have streamed in.

OPTIMISM is on the rise for the Willemse family. Following the recent interview with his mother Samantha Willemse on the 947 breakfast show, R2.3-million has been raised for Caylum.

Prior to the radio interview, funds stood at R1.4-million and in the week after the show, R600 000 was raised. An additional R300 000 came in during the last week.

Many generous offers have streamed in. Dr Glenn Staples MD from Medical Services Organisation (MSO) has offered services with arranging flights and this will help reduce travelling costs to Boston.

Two families from Boston have also offered to accommodate the Willemse family during their stay in Boston which will reduce costs by approximately R1-million.

Caylum has been taken off the airvo for a trial period to clinically analyse what the risks will be during his flight. He is doing well though.

Among the many initiatives, Pizza del Forno Fairland is joining Meyersdal and Bedfordview in running a fund-raising campaign. For every large pizza sold from August 16 to August 21, R5 will be donated to Caylum’s fund.

Residents are also invited to come and walk for Caylum on September 4 at Rietvlei. For more details about the walk and other upcoming events to raise funds for Caylum, follow Caylum Willemse on Facebook.

The family remains grateful for every bit of help received.
