Support JSPCA at the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN

Runners, walkers, fitness enthusiast and fun-seekers will be granted the unique opportunity to celebrate Johannesburg’s rich heritage by exploring their city at the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN.

RUNNERS taking part in the inaugural FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN on Saturday, September 24 will be able to show their support of the Johannesburg SPCA on National Heritage Day from 08:00.

“We are proud to welcome the Johannesburg SPCA as an official charity of the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN. Animal welfare lies close to our hearts. By supporting the SPCA we are able to do our part for Johannesburg’s animals. We invite runners to show their support while exploring their city at the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports.

The Johannesburg SPCA started operating in 1902 and is a non-profit organisation that depends entirely on the kindness and support of individuals and companies.

According to Jolene Beyleveld, public relations officer Johannesburg SPCA, it is a privilege to be one of the official charities of the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN. “Animals play an integral part in society. They need protection and someone to stand up for them. The SPCA, together with help from supporters such as the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN, is able to do this for them. We have over 200 animals in our care on the property, excluding the animals that we are assisting out in the field. We care for over 5 000 animals annually.”

“The FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN is a wonderful way to bring the people of Johannesburg together. It’s not only a fun event that promotes a healthy lifestyle, but it is also a charity event where society as a whole benefits in the restoration of the heritage of Johannesburg, while looking out for the animals whom we all love and cherish,” explained Beyleveld.
