Blanket Drive delivers winter warmth

A blanket drive campaign was held by BMW (0860 Accident helpline) on July 14.

REACHING out in celebration of Mandela Day sure did spread some winter warmth.

A blanket drive was held by BMW (0860 Accident helpline) on July 14, in an attempt to reach out to the less fortunate in the community.

BMW would like to thank the generous sponsors: Alberante BMW Alberton and staff, Alberante ARC, Alberante GM Alberton and Tyres and More Alberton for their assistance in making this campaign a success.

A special thanks to Earle Austin, from Alberante GM Alberton, for sponsoring Andrea Combrink from Auto Dealer and Angelique Swanepoel from Get it Magazine with a Chevrolet Trailblazer, to assist in delivering close to 100 blankets to the children’s homes and underprivileged families.

Blankets were distributed to Ligstad in Alberton North, St Mary’s Children’s Home and Epworth Children’s Village.

Of all the homes visited, Epworth Children’s Village needed the most help. It was, indeed, sad to see how many of the children were wearing summer clothing and had no shoes.

We would like to reach out to the community to assist with clothes, food, blankets and even offering maintenance to Epworth Children’s Village.

If there are any businesses or individuals who would like to assist with maintenance repairs or donations, please contact Andrea or Angelique from the Alberton RECORD for more information on 011 724 7000, or email to acombrink@caxton.co.za or angeliques@caxton.co.za
