Miss Earth SA regional finalists chosen

THE Miss Earth South Africa regional finalists have been selected and all of them were hosted by Back o’ the Moon at Gold Reef City on Tuesday, July 12 for a spectacular green dinner.

Founder of Generation Earth, Ella Bella, kicked off the evening by introducing the media to the finalists and vice versa. With her motivational speaking, Ella left the audience and enthusiastic finalists so encouraged to be supporting a cause that brings nothing but hope and joy and inner peace to both with the receiving and giving hands.

“Change begins with young children and children wanting to make a change. With the topic for the year being ‘Waste Stops With Me’ we know that giving back to the community is not always easy and to go out and make a difference and be a change is hard work,” said Ella.

She commended the girls on their hard work thus far and also mentioned that commitment is key in the Miss Earth walk.

All the finalists were encouraged to interact with the guests at the dinner, and one thing that was evident in each finalist was her sincere and humble heart. Being the regional finalists they met for the first time as they made their way to Gold Reef City (for their week-long training) earlier that day and instantly clicked as if long lost soulmates as they found their common passion, vision and mission, which is to make a difference.

Miss Earth Zambia ambassadors were also present.

Ella handed over to general manager of corporate affairs at Tsogo Sun, Candy Tothill who shares the same vision as Generation Earth and encouraged the finalists to make a change where they are and with what they already have.

Tsogo Sun is the home of the Miss Earth South Africa. Gold Reef City welcomed the regional finalists from around South Africa for a week of greening activities, social engagement, educational programmes and continuation of the ‘Waste Stops With Me’ campaign with Pikitup. The Miss Earth South Africa leadership programme aims to empower young South African women with the knowledge to create a sustainable difference in combating the destruction of our natural heritage.

The programme serves as a platform that helps to create greater awareness around sustainable development, our environment, wildlife and the conservation of our natural legacy in South Africa, and ultimately the preservation of Mother Earth.
