Reach For A Dream calls on schools to help make dreams come true

Reach For A Dream encourages children who are fighting life-threatening illnesses to believe in their dreams and believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for

AUGUST 5 marks Reach For A Dream’s biggest annual fund-raiser – Slipper Day.

The money raised each year goes towards giving hope and making the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses come true.

For 28 years, the Reach For A Dream Foundation has been making dreams come true for South African children fighting life-threatening diseases, including cancer, cystic fibrosis and heart conditions.

This ambitious goal is possible only through fund-raising and the support of as many South Africans as possible, allowing it to bring some joy and inspiration to ill children.

Since the initiative began in 2011, Reach For A Dream’s Slipper Day has continued to grow in popularity each year, with last year’s event raising over R3.5-million.

This year, Reach For A Dream is hoping to sell 650 000 stickers, which will almost double its fund-raising total for 2015.

Reach For A Dream is calling on communities around Gauteng to support Slipper Day by buying a sticker for R10 and wearing their favourite pair of slippers to school, work (or out-and-about) on August 5.

To encourage community support, the foundation is offering one school in Gauteng the chance to win a private concert, featuring three top SA artists. The school that sells the most stickers will win this private concert and, in addition, the principal and teacher of the winning class will each win a luxury weekend away for two people.

Stickers can be ordered from any Reach For A Dream branch and will be delivered straight to the school for quick and easy distribution.

Schools who wish to take part should email to info@slipperday.co.za.
