Attempted robbery suspect gets 10 years in prison

The victim was awakened by the noise of a breaking window in her house and apprehended the suspect in her yard

OUPA Modise (35) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, on Wednesday, June 8, when he appeared in the Johannesburg Regional Court on a charge of attempted robbery.

More than a year ago, on June 12, 2015, at about 14:30, in Hulda Street, Kibler Park, the victim was awakened by the noise of a breaking window in her house. She apprehended the suspect in her yard and, thereafter, the case was assigned to W/O Zakhele Zwane, of the Mondeor SAPS, for further investigation.

The Detective Branch commander, Lieut Col Adriaan Haasbroek welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer for his efforts throughout the lengthy investigation.
