DON’T miss a talk on Stars of the Southern Hemisphere in The Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, at The Entrance Precinct, Peggy Vera Road, Kibler Park on Thursday, June 9 at 18:30 for 19:00.

The talk, A Stone Age Night Sky in Winter, by Lance Kinnear, will entertain its audience as you get an introduction to the night sky, view a four-day-old moon and Jupiter among the stars of Leo, the Lion. You’ll also be able to watch Mars at its closest approach to earth since 2005, and its rival Antares and in celebration of Giovanni Cassini’s birthday on June 8, view Saturn and its incredible ring system, amongst the stars of Scorpius. Bring your telescopes, etc. Cost is R50 per person.

Lance Kinnear lectured at the Johannesburg Planetarium for nearly 30 years as an amateur astronomer and he has given many bush talks, formal lectures and written an internet course on astronomy.
