Suspects convicted

Six suspects have been convicted to direct imprisonment in Johannesburg courts.

ON May 17, Mfanelo Mase a 28-year-old suspect was sentenced to 12 years direct imprisonment by the Johannesburg Regional Court for common robbery which occurred in John Masefield Drive, Mondeor on March 4, this year.

The complainant was walking in John Masefield Drive when the suspect approached her, grabbed her by the trousers and pulled her to the bushes, robbing her of her cellphone and R10. The suspect was apprehended by a member of the community.

The case was assigned to Sergeant Lindokuhle Sithole of Mondeor SAPS for further investigation.

The Detective Branch Commander Lieutenant Colonel Adriaan Haasbroek would like to commend the investigating officer for her effort throughout the investigation.

On May 17, Isaac Joao (27), Lebogang Maqolo (32), Swallows Modanisi (29), Thabiso Motaung (22) and Daniel Mogorosi (20) were convicted to three years direct imprisonment by Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court for theft of cables in Eikenhof, next to Rand Water. The incident occurred on November 5, 2015. The suspects were apprehended by a security officer.

The case was assigned to Warrant Officer Rietta Botha of Mondeor SAPS for further investigation.
