Booysens Police do not throw IDs away

Should an ID be handed into Booysens SAPS office, the station tries to trace the person down and inform them that we are in possession of their ID.

THE COURIER received a complaint about cleaners at Booysens Police Station throwing away ID documents, either out on the pavement or in the dustbins on a daily basis.

The matter was then referred to Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik, who attended to the matter. She said the station commander had been alerted and he called in all the cleaners and the car guards into his office on Wednesday morning, May 18, to deal with the matter.

“The matter is being investigated and under no circumstances can an ID be given to any person. Should an ID be handed in to Booysens SAPS office, the station tries to trace the person and inform them that we are in possession of their ID. If this office does not succeed in tracing or contacting the said person, the ID document is handed over to the Home Affairs department,” explained W/O Van Emmerik.
