Comedy night at Gold Reef City

The show starts at 20:00 and tickets are available from Computicket, tickets prices are R150 for general access, R250 for corporate seating and R350 for VIP tickets.

IN the wake of ongoing racism and xenophobic tensions in South Africa, seasoned comedians will join forces at Gold Reef City on Friday, May 13 and host ‘One Laugh’ to take a stand against this unrest.

‘One Laugh’, featuring The Napsta (Host), Donovan Goliath, Nina Hastie, Yaseen Barnes, Loyiso Madinga, Carl Joshua (Zimbabwe) and Snooze (Malawi), is a first of its kind, and is designed to specifically address issues around race, discrimination and inequality. The coming together of all these comedy heavyweights aims to show solidarity among Africans in the fight against xenophobia and promote the message of peace and love. As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine, and when it is shared, laughter binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy.

The Napsta, main organiser of ‘One Laugh’ said comedy is a very powerful tool and can be used as a catalyst for change. “We are not assuming that one comedy show will end racism and xenophobia, but if we can start the conversation and get people talking, reflecting and learning to celebrate each other’s differences, then we would have achieved our objective,” said the young comedian and entrepreneur.

“Gold Reef City prides itself on being one of Johannesburg’s premier entertainment hubs, where people can come together to celebrate our beautiful diversity and rich culture,” said Gareth Kaschula, marketing manager for Gold Reef City.

The show starts at 20:00 and tickets are available from Computicket. Ticket prices are R150 for general access, R250 for corporate seating and R350 for VIP tickets.
