What are you walking for?

“We would appreciate you joining us to not just help us raise awareness but also help us raise funds to be used for our many projects,” said Alta McMaster, Epic Foundation CEO.

ARE you walking for a cause in the 702 Walk the Talk this year? If you are not walking for anyone, why don’t you join Epic Foundation’s team and walk against rape and abuse?

“We would appreciate you joining us to not just help us raise awareness but also help us raise funds to be used for our many projects,” said Alta McMaster, Epic Foundation CEO.

The projects include: Comfort Pack Project (bags with essential toiletry items to be used during the initial reporting phases of rape and abuse – in 2015 almost 8 000 were distributed; counselling, support groups, referrals for legal advice, court preparations, self-protection classes, motivational talks, education and awareness campaigns and similar. They also include the Step-up Project (skills development for shelter women) and their “add-on project”, the Fairy Godmother Project (matric farewell outfits for boys and girls who cannot afford their own).

If you would like to join a team to walk the 702 Walk the Talk, in aid of Epic Foundation, this is what you can do:

1. Send the following details to info@epicfoundation.org.za – name, surname, ID number, date of birth, kilometres you will be walking.

2. You will then be registered on the website.

3. You can also register on the website and request to join the Epic Foundation Team – www.walkthetalk

4. Epic Foundation will accept entrants as team members.

5. Entry fees to be paid into the bank account for the Epic Foundation: Name of account – Epic Foundation, Bank – First National Bank, Branch – 250655, Type of account – Business Account, Branch name – Alberton Boulevard, Account nr – 62413013484. Please use WTT followed by your name as the reference. Proof of payments to be sent to info@epicfoundation.org.za.

6.The normal entry fee is R160 for 5km and 8km and R180 for 15km. The entry fee for charities is reduced to R145. As this is also used as a method of fundraising for Epic Foundation their entry fee is R250 per person, R145 will be paid over to WTT and the balance will go to the projects of the Epic Foundation.

7. If you can get a corporate to sponsor you per kilometre walked, this would be a great way to help them raise funds as well.

8. Deadline for registering the team is May 17.
