Man murders ex-girlfriend

A woman in her late twenties was murdered by her ex-boyfriend when he threw her out of his moving vehicle on Kliprivier Drive, near to the N12 on and off ramps on Saturday evening, April 9 around 23:00.

According to Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik, Communication Official Booysens SAPS, after he had thrown her out of his moving Bantam bakkie, he turned around, rode over her and dragged her for about 150 metres before he fled the scene.

The woman was alive when emergency services arrived at the scene but she passed away from her injuries at about 23:30.

Booysens SAPS is investigating the murder.

The CHRONICLE spoke to a resident from Zena Street, Gillview. “I distinctly heard a vehicle braking hard, wheels spinning and then what sounded like a shot but it could have been a car backfiring. This was at around 23:15. I had a gut feeling something awful had happened and when I looked out of the window not long after, I saw ambulance lights. This is a terrible tragedy.”
