Two drug lords arrested

Upon receiving information, police went on a full scale operation which also netted one suspect for driving a stolen vehicle and another for a possession of an illegal firearm.

SOUTH African Police Service‘s Tactical Response Team and the K9 unit arrested two drug lords operating in Ennerdale after a tip-off by a member of the community on Thursday, March 31.

Upon receiving information, police mounted a full-scale operation that also netted one suspect for driving a stolen vehicle and another for the possession of an illegal firearm.

All four suspects are being detained at Ennerdale police station and will appear at the Lenasia Magistrate’s court on charges of dealing in drugs, possession of a stolen vehicle and an illegal firearm respectively.

“I applaud the police officers who acted swiftly in the arrest of the two drug lords who were destroying the lives of young people in that community, all in the name of enriching themselves. I continue to reiterate the stance of the Gauteng City Region that community intelligence is key in the fight against crime and that we will not hesitate to act decisively against anyone found peddling drugs in the province.

“I intend engaging the criminal justice system not to grant bail to the two drug lords, to demonstrate our unwavering war against drugs in Gauteng,” said Gauteng MEC for community safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.
