Fairy-tale ending

Rose petals and bubbles showered the happy couple as they came from the church.

TWO people so in love and who have had to overcome enormous hurdles, Kristi Hannah and Christopher Southers tied the knot on Saturday, March 26.

In April 2007, Kristi was shot in her neck during an attempted hijacking and was paralysed from the neck down. But through hard work, pain and lots of tears, she started her slow road to recovery.

She met Christopher in 2013 through mutual friends. Christopher had also sustained a spinal cord injury, and from the word go, they had loads to talk about.

The wedding, a quiet affair shared with family and close friends, took place at St Paul’s Church, Mulbarton, and as the couple said their vows, there was hardly a dry eye in the church. When the happy couple came out of the church as husband and wife, they were showered with rose petals and bubbles.

The wedding was bittersweet for Kristi, Chris and the family, as Kristi’s dad, Sean Hannah, recently succumbed to an illness and died peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family. “We know Sean’s with us today – we can feel his presence,” said Debbie, Sean’s wife.

After the ceremony, a reception dinner was held at the family home in Meyersdal.
