Reading is knowledge

The intention is to educate and inform the learners of their career paths and make it easier for them to decide on their future.

LEARNERS from different schools in the South celebrated Library Week from March 11 to 21 at South Hills Library.

The City of Johannesburg came up with the initiative to make it a career day. Mashudu Singom, the manager in charge of all the libraries of Region 7, chose the South Hills Library for this great initiative.

The intention is to educate and inform the learners of their career paths and make it easier for them to decide on their future. Most high schools were invited as well as Grade Seven learners from various primary schools.

“I would like to encourage our youth to join the library and start reading. If you have books at home that you did not return, please do the right thing and return them back to the library. Others are waiting to make use of those books. Our seniors also read and enjoy the books. In the South we have four libraries situated in Rosettenville, Glenanda, Southdale and South Hills. All these libraries have access to Wi-Fi, except for South Hills. Glenanda and Southdale have public computers.

“We also have friendly staff who are always available to assist you at the South Hills Library. Our manager is Nontyileko Masakaza and she is willing to offer her friendly service to anyone visiting the library,” explained Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame.
