Ladies learn about road safety

Ladies can change a tyre even if they are driving in heels.

GEARING ladies for safer driving and learning the basics, such as changing a tyre, was the main aim of the ladies lunch, hosted by Alberante Approved Repair Centre (ARC) and 0860ACCIDENT, on the premises of Alberante BMW, on Febraury 20.

It was a morning filled with shared information, and even laughter when an airbag burst, as ladies got to know that even when driving in heels, you can still change a tyre. They also learnt more about what steps to follow in the event of an accident and the towing of a vehicle, a little more on new vehicle technology and how to prevent being hijacked.

Natalie Matthysen, from Driving Sense, walked the ladies through a typical hijacking situation and shared vital information on how to deal with a hijacking.

Ladies were told that, should they fall victim to a hijacking, they must put their hands up and lean toward the top of your safety belt; instruct all passengers to get out and to barter with their keys if they have a baby in the back in a car seat. They where told that once all passengers are out of vehicle they should lie down on the ground and let the hijackers have the vehicle.

Niel Somers, the guest artist for the day, was a definite hit and some lucky ladies went home with great prizes.
