Fitness tips for the health conscious

There is much one can do to improve your health and well-being., Get up, get healthy, and have fun doing it.

With all the delicious things on offer, including fizzy drinks and alcohol, as well as entertainment that has us sittings on our behinds for hours on end, it’s very difficult for most people in today’s society to be healthy.

Fear not, here are some tips to follow if you’d like to improve mobility, lose weight, get fit, look and feel better and gain confidence:

*Keep moving. Staying in one position for too long is unnatural, and your body feels it. Even if you are having a lazy day, get up occasionally to stretch your legs or have a bit of a walk around outside to get the blood flowing again and get some fresh air.

*Everyone should do at least one hour of exercise every day. If you are not a fan of the traditional types of exercise or going to the gym, join some active clubs that do fun activities and allow you to get some exercise at the same time. Alternately, take your dog(s) for a long walk everyday, have family cycling trips, the list is endless.

*Try to cut down on all the crisps, sweets and excess of any sort. You can have a healthy diet without having to give up too much, and it is a myth that healthy food is not tasty. You can eat well, without it having to fast-track you to having heart-disease.

*Drink lots of water. Water regulates just about everything in your body, and constitutes around two thirds of it’s entirety. The majority of headaches are caused by dehydration, and this affliction happens much more quickly and easily than most people believe.

*Surround yourself with positive people who enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. If your friends have a certain standard of living, you are more likely to adopt those habits when you spend lots of time together.

*With a few substitutes, you can help your waistline without feeling like you’re giving up too much. Instead of your regular brew, opt for a light version of beer, it cuts the calories substantially. Instead of fizzy drinks to chase your favorite liquor, opt for soda water or similar substitution. Instead of having a big bowl of dessert after your meal, have a few blocks of dark chocolate instead, it’s high in anti-oxidants and not as processed as milk- or white-chocolate.

There is much one can do to improve your health and well-being. Get up, get healthy, and have fun doing it.
