Traffic lights for Glenanda

AFTER trying for nearly six and a half years to get traffic lights at the intersection of Vorster Avenue and Glen Road in Glenanda erected, Ward 23 councillor Paul Smit, is finally victorious.

“This has been a long slog and the traffic lights are going to certainly make pedestrians and motorists’ lives a lot safer. Vorster Avenue carries a huge amount of traffic, especially at school times and peak hour periods,” he said.

Yolanda Robertson, a member of the Glenanda South Community Forum, is delighted about the traffic lights. “When I asked the workforce from Robot Asure Co what they were doing, they said they were laying cables for the new robots, which they reckon should be up and running by Wednesday, February 17,” she said.
